Michael Taylor graduated in 2001 from Lutheran High School North in Macomb Township. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2005. During his time at Kalamazoo College, Mr. Taylor played for its Division III Football Team and studied abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico.

In 2008 he received a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. During law school he clerked for the Hon. Colleen A. O’Brien of the Oakland County Circuit Court. Mr. Taylor began his legal career in 2008 as an associate attorney at the law firm of Burket Savage, P.C. in St. Clair Shores. By 2015, he was joined as a partner in Davis Burket Savage Listman Taylor in Mt. Clemens with his primary focus being in the areas of probate, estate planning and business law. Mr. Taylor joined the law firm of Kirk, Huth, Lange & Badalamenti, PLC as a Senior Associate in 2017 where he continues to represent individuals and families in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, probate and trust administration, fiduciary representation and estate planning including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney and medical directives. Mr. Taylor also practices in the areas of business planning, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, commercial transactions and litigation, real estate law and property tax appeals.

In addition to practicing law, Mr. Taylor currently serves as the Mayor of the City of Sterling Heights. He was first elected to the Sterling Heights City Council in 2009 at the age of 26. In 2014 he was appointed as mayor and was elected to his first full term in 2015. Mr. Taylor holds the distinction of being the youngest mayor of any city with more than 100,000 residents in the United States.

He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Macomb Probate Bar Association, the South East Michigan Council of Governments and the Michigan Mayors Association. He is the former presiding officer of the Millennial Mayors Congress, and is actively involved with the Sterling Heights Chamber of Commerce and many other local organizations and charities.

In his spare time he enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife Christina and their three children, Clara, Hudson and Theodore.
